Regatta Poster Contest Results

Congratulations to Lance Kolstad who won this year’s regatta poster contest with his awesome hand-drawn digital artwork.  Great work, Lance!

Kids Sailing Day – Friday August 10th, 10:00 AM at Fort Peck Marina

Everyone is welcome but our focus will be introducing kids to the fun of sailing.  The Optimist Dinghy sailboat is a small trainer, ideally suited for kids approximately 8-14.  We have some other kinds of boats to accommodate kids outside of that age range, too.  We’ll sail in the marina bay until everyone’s tired of it or the weather runs out.  Please let us know if you plan to attend.  There will be no fees.

Fort Peck Sailing Regatta 2018 – Saturday August 11

Fun sail to York Island and back, that’s the plan.  Meet at the Fort Peck Marina at 10:00 AM for a skippers meeting, and we’ll adjust the plan if needed for weather and such.  Anyone with a sailboat is invited to come along for what is sure to be a really fun day on the water.  After the sailing, we will reunite at the marina for food and a jam session.  Please let us know if you plan to attend.  There will be no fees.

All volunteer sailors are welcome to join in offering free rides, a sailing introduction for everyone. We’ll start at noon at Fort Peck Marina.  If you are interested in sailing, this is the perfect opportunity to check out some boats, take a ride and learn about what Fort Peck Sailing Club is doing to promote this wonderful sport to people of all ages in this area.

If you are planning to bring a boat and give rides, please let us know.

Fort Peck Lake is still frozen over and it snowed again this morning, but I know everyone has an eager eye toward summer and the calendar will fill up quickly.  Let's get the word out now so nobody can say they "didn't get the memo."

HERE ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT EVENTS OF THE SUMMER:

June 24th - Summer Sailstice  [completed]

This will likely follow the plan of the past 2 years, where all volunteer sailors are welcome to join in offering free rides, a sailing introduction to anyone interested.

August 7-11 (unconfirmed) - Mobile Optimist Sailing School [postponed until 2018]

We hope to encore our most meaningful outreach this year and host a week-long sailing school for youths age 8-14.  These are the future sailors, racers, instructors and leaders.  They already have the desire to learn and passion for being on the water.  You can be a part of their journey by giving toward their education.  A little help could go a long way creating new opportunities and directions, lending to a better future we can't even predict or imagine!

August 11-13 - Can-Am Fort Peck Sailing Regatta

Arguably the most fun regatta anywhere.  It's small, it's friendly, and it's a learning experience for everyone involved.  We're growing a culture of competitive sailing where none existed before.  If you have any interest, come join the fun!  Whether you want to try your hand at racing or helping as a volunteer, there is room for everyone.

We'll be sure to post any updates here.  Also, here is a form letter you can use to decline any other events that might try to infringe on your summer boating schedule:
